The Scanner at Harbor-UCLA is the most experienced Cardiac CT imaging center in the country. This center boasts the newest equipment for cardiac CT imaging, including a 64 slice CT scanner for non-invasive angiography, as well as an electron beam CT scanner for screening tests. The facility is solely focused on preventive imaging, not a converted radiology scanner being used for two purposes.
Dr. Matthew Budoff, the medical director and a preventive cardiologist is the foremost authority on cardiac CT scanner, and has written the national guidelines for use of this technology for the AHA and the American College of Cardiology As an Associate Professor at UCLA School of medicine, Dr. Budoff has been solely focused on research and development of this tool for screening and diagnostic purposes. Dr. Budoff has published over 150 articles on this topic, and written two books
