Shady Grove Radiology’s interventional specialists are Dr. Zahide Erkmen and Scott Buckner. Their reputation precedes them throughout the Washington, DC, area. 

Dr. Zahide Erkmen is Board-Certified in radiology with a Certificate of Added Qualifications in vascular and interventional radiology.  A graduate of Georgetown University School of Medicine, followed by radiology residency at the University Of Connecticut School Of Medicine, Dr. Erkmen completed a fellowship in Vascular and Interventional Radiology at George Washington University School of Medicine.  Dr. Erkmen is an active Society of Cardiovascular and Interventional Radiology member of  and
has been performing interventional procedures at Shady Grove Adventist Hospital since 1999.

Dr. Scott Buckner is a Board-Certified radiologist who has been prominently recognized by the Washingtonian Magazine’s Top Doctor’s four years in a row.  Dr. Buckner completed his radiology residency at St. Francis Medical Center in Pittsburgh, followed by a fellowship in Cardiovascular and Interventional Radiology at the University of Pittsburgh Vascular Institute.  Having performed interventional procedures at Shady Grove Adventist Hospital since 1997, Dr. Buckner received the hospitals RISES (Respect, Integrity, Service, Excellence and Stewardship) award in November 2004.

After researching treatment for venous insufficiency disease, Dr. Erkmen selected the Vnus g system over laser systems due to the amount of control given to the physician during the procedure.  “I feel the procedure is safer for the patient, resulting in less pain and bruising.  Our experience overall has been extremely positive.
