Procedures & Services

64 slice Computer Tomography

CT imaging is used to clearly show soft tissue, like the brain, as well as dense tissue, like bone. The information gathered during a CT scan is processed by a computer and interpreted by a radiologist to diagnose, or rule out, disease.

The 64-slice CT used at AROC is the most advanced scanner of its kind, capable of producing exceptionally detailed, precise images. The scanner is so advanced, it can image the entire body in as little as ten seconds! In addition to reducing the amount of time required for testing, this technology enables just about anyone to have a high quality CT scan, including claustrophobic or anxious patients, children and those with difficulty breathing.

X-ray

X-ray is the oldest and most frequently used form of imaging to see inside the human body. It uses a focused beam and a special detector to obtain images of body anatomy.

X-rays are absorbed by different body tissues in varying degrees. Dense tissue, like bone, absorbs most X-rays and appears white on the image. Less dense tissues appear in shades of gray. X-rays that pass through air, like in the lungs and colon, aren’t absorbed at all and appear black on the image.

Cardiovascular Tests

Coronary Calcium Score (Heart Scan)

The heart scan is a fast and painless CT scan of the heart that, in just seconds, detects early coronary artery disease. More specifically, it looks in the coronary arteries—the pipelines that supply blood to the heart—for the calcified plaque that can cause heart disease and can ultimately block the flow of blood to the heart. The heart scan measures the amount of calcified plaque in the coronary arteries to assess a patient's risk of heart disease and gives a specific rating of risk for future heart attack. This scan is the most advanced of its kind and is completely non-invasive.

Coronary CT Angiography

A new, non-invasive imaging test specifically designed for the coronary arteries, CT angiography (CTA) is a contrast-enhanced CT angiogram that produces two- and three-dimensional images of the coronary arteries with the heart motion ‘frozen’ in disstole. It is the only test that can detect, quantify and characterize atherosclerotic plaque—from the early stages of fatty streak, to lipid core, to fibrosis and eventually to calcification.  CTA can identify atherosclerotic plaque at risk of rupture that would not be detected by EKG or stress perfusion.

Carotid Ultrasound

Mammography

A mammogram uses a low-dose X-rays to generate images of the compressed breast. It is the most widely used and most trusted tool in the diagnosis of breast cancer. It is designed to detect early stage breast cancer in women experiencing no symptoms and to detect and diagnose breast disease in women experiencing symptoms such as a lump, pain or nipple discharge.

DEXA Bone Densitometry

Dual-Energy X-Ray Absorptiometry (DEXA) is a quick, safe and painless test to determine if you have osteoporosis or low bone mass. By measuring bone strength, we can help predict fracture risk so that effective preventive therapy can be started with your doctor.

Ultrasound

Ultrasound (also known as sonography) uses high-frequency sound waves to produce images of the inside of the body. The process is fast, painless and completely free of radiation or harmful side effects; that is why it is so often used for prenatal imaging.

Lung Scan

The lung scan is a test designed to screen high-risk and non-symptomatic patients for lung cancer and other lung problems. This scan quickly screens the lungs to detect pulmonary nodules. Clinical research has found that an initial 'baseline' screening of high-risk persons by low-dose advanced CT can detect lung cancer at earlier and more curable stages than ordinary x-ray. When symptoms begin to appear, the 5-year survival rate for lung cancer is only 5%. But when assessed with CT for early detection, the five-year survival rate improves to more than 65%!

Virtual Colonoscopy

Virtual colonoscopy is a fast, easy and safe alternative to traditional colonoscopy that provides a very accurate and detailed look at the interior of the colon. Virtual colonoscopy is as effective as a standard colonoscopy in detecting small infiltrating cancers of the colon and can visualize polyps and tumors as small as 6 millimeters. The test is minimally invasive, does not require a heavy prep or the use of a five-foot optical scope. Because there is no sedation or hospital stay required, you can resume normal activities immediately following the test.
