A bone density scan provides a volumetric measure of your bone density. It distinguished between the exterior cortical bone and the interior trabecular bone. The most important measurement is that of the trabecular bone in the spine. This measurement is indicative of the overall bone health. By maintaining the primary focus on the trabecular compartment, a bone density scan takes the most precise pictures of your bone.
