Is Foam Sclerotherapy the best procedure for the removal of spider veins? Or are others more recommended?
The best treatment for spider veins is sclerotherapy. For the larger spiders foam is the best. For the smaller spiders either foam or liquid is fine.

Foam sclerotherapy is usually reserved for larger veins while standard sclerotherapy is utilized for spider veins. The foaming process makes sclerotherapy "stronger" which is usually not necessary for the tiny spider veins.

Sclerotherapy is the best method of eliminating small veins. Foam is not necessarily used. It is physician and vein size dependent. At our office we only do foam sclerotherapy on larger vessels using ultrasound guidance. The spider veins are treated with non-foam sclerotherapy.

In our opinion, sclerotherapy is the best treatment for spider veins on the legs. The solutions we use most often are sotradecyl (foamed) and a glycerin solution.
