Are there significant risks involved with a heart scan?
I am female, 65 with a history of high cholesterol & high blood pressure. I had a heart scan through a walk in offer. No one explained any risk involved & I am now worried after researching. What risks are involved with a heart scan?

There is no significant risk, but any time that there is radiation involved you should be made aware of it. Your history of high cholesterol and high blood pressure far out weighs the risk. Now you have a baseline on where you stand.

Not really a significant risk. However, the technologist should have explained the exam to you, including the IV procedure and the possible effects, as well as the radiation involved.
